Age UK: Vaccination and Transport support

Covid-19 Vaccine Support Service

The COVID-19 vaccination will reduce the chance of you suffering from the COVID-19 disease. Like all medicines, no vaccine is completely effective and it takes a few weeks for your body to build up protection after you have had the vaccine. Some people may still get COVID-19 despite having a vaccination, but this will lessen the severity of any infection.
The vaccine cannot give you COVID19 infection, and two doses will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill. You will still need to follow the Government guidance. Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects. Most of these are mild and short-term, and not everyone gets them.

NHS or GP Invitation for your vaccine

Over the coming weeks you will be receiving a letter asking you to book your vaccine.
The letter will invite you to either book online or call 119 to book an appointment.

Vaccine Support – how Age UK can Help

Once you have booked your slot, or if you need help booking, we would ask you to call our Home & Care Services Manager on Mobile: 07754 751 079 or our reception on 020 8981 7124.
On the day of your vaccine you will be collected by one of our home and care team in an Uber cab and taken to your vaccine destination point. We will wait with you whilst you have the vaccination and we will then escort you back home. The service is available across Tower Hamlets, Newham, City & Hackney and Waltham Forest.
