Training for Volunteer Managers: Developing your Volunteer Policy

Training for Volunteer Managers: Developing your Volunteer Policy

Thursday 18 May / 2.00pm to 4.00pm / on Zoom

When was your Volunteer Policy last reviewed? Are you confident that it reflects good practice? Or maybe you don’t yet have a Volunteer Policy? A robust Volunteer Policy is the minimum element of good practice if your organisation involves volunteers.

If you are applying to the LBTH Mayor’s Community Grants Programme, this training will cover all the volunteering-related requirements of the organisation assessment.

This practical workshop will cover:

  • essential components of a Volunteer Policy
  • legal requirements
  • key best practice procedures for managing volunteers, including a recruitment process, role descriptions, training for volunteers and volunteer expenses
  • key supplementary policies, such as an Equal Opportunities Policy and Problem Solving Process for Volunteers
  • making your policy accessible to different audiences (volunteers, staff, senior managers)

By the end of the session, you will be confident in developing/updating your Volunteer Policy.  After the training, VCTH can provide 1-1 support to develop or review your Volunteer Policy.  We can also provide support to meet the volunteering-related requirements of the LBTH Mayor’s Community Grants Programme.

This session is suitable for experienced Volunteer Managers as well as those who are new to managing volunteers.
