Too often, little consideration is given to the specific needs of older survivors in the UK who are experiencing domestic and sexual abuse. Traditionally, older people have been below the radar when it comes to domestic abuse and consequently, research and policy has largely developed without them in mind. Within the 10-year Femicide Census 2009 to 2018 14% of women murdered by men were over 66 years of age. These are the femicides so what about the hidden harmed?

What we do know however is that older survivors are disproportionately at risk of serious harm, with multiple intersecting barriers.

So what does this mean for you as a practitioner?
