Peer Learning Session – Virtual Volunteering: Successes and Challenges. FREE on Zoom

Peer Learning Session - Virtual Volunteering: Successes and Challenges. FREE on Zoom
Thursday 25 November 2021, from 10.30am to 12.30pmDuring the pandemic many organisations moved their services online and volunteering was delivered virtually or remotely. Now that some in-person services are starting again, organisations are considering what virtual elements to retain and develop. During this interactive Peer Learning session, we will consider good practice in relation to virtual volunteering. Clare Derry, Volunteer Programme Manager at Refuge, a national charity supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence, will be sharing her experience of the benefits, challenges and learning from pivoting most of Refuge’s volunteering to be remote during the past 17 months and now beginning to resume in-person volunteering. We will discuss good practice in managing virtual volunteers including changing volunteer roles, vetting, support and supervision, communication, scheduling, diversity and inclusion, retaining existing volunteers and maintaining a mix of virtual and face-to-face volunteering.
