Thursday 16 March / 10am-12.30pm / on Zoom
This workshop is aimed at organisations developing or reviewing safeguarding policies, procedures and practices for working with children and young people. Using the NSPCC’s safeguarding and child protection self-assessment tool, we will cover what safeguarding policies an organisation may need and the implications of a policy for practice and procedures. By the end of this session participants will be able to:
- identify what their organisation needs to consider to keep children and young people safe
- understand the link between policies, practices and safeguarding procedures
- know about the resources available for voluntary and community sector organisations
- understand the use of a self-assessment tool in keeping up-to-date with safeguarding procedures
- understand terminology used in safeguarding
It will be useful for participants to have a basic level of understanding of child protection. We will ask you to complete a brief pre-course questionnaire so that the training can be tailored to participants’ needs. There will be time allocated in the training for you to consider your organisation’s own policies and procedures.
