Wednesday 19 July / 6.30pm to 8.30pm / Streets of Growth 6 Middlesex Street, E1 7EX
Deliverance – Film Screening & Panel Talk
Deliverance records local voices of riders and restaurants. It centres on several characters : Adam, ex rider and fair work campaigner, Jabed, one of the first employees of Deliveroo, who, disillusioned by their exploitation, became an activist and rider organiser, Mathias, an ex rider and volunteer for the IWGB (the Independent Workers of Great Britain) and Maria the filmmaker, who was a rider for Take Eat Easy, a Belgian based company, and then later, when they went bust, moved on to ride for Uber.
In 2018 riders went on strike and this film covers that story. It hinges between the conditions then and now and talks to riders today about the issues they face. What, if anything, can be seen as a legacy of strike gains today?
Film Running Time: Approx. 65 minutes
Arrival time will be from 6pm with the film starting at 6.30pm and finishing around 8pm, it will be followed by a short panel talk with the event finishing at 8.30pm.
There are disabled toilets located on the ground floor and the building is fully accessible by wheelchair. There is no bar at the venue.
