SUMMARY:Deliverance - Deliverance & Panel Talk
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 19 July / 6.30pm to 8.30pm / Streets of Growth 6 Mid
 dlesex Street\, E1 7EX\n\nDeliverance - Film Screening &amp\; Panel Talk\n
\nDeliverance records local voices of riders and restaurants. It centres
on several characters : Adam\, ex rider and fair work campaigner\, Jabed\,
one of the first employees of Deliveroo\, who\, disillusioned by their ex
ploitation\, became an activist and rider organiser\, Mathias\, an ex ride
r and volunteer for the IWGB (the Independent Workers of Great Britain) an
d Maria the filmmaker\, who was a rider for Take Eat Easy\, a Belgian base
d company\, and then later\, when they went bust\, moved on to ride for Ub
er.\n\nIn 2018 riders went on strike and this film covers that story. It h
inges between the conditions then and now and talks to riders today about
the issues they face. What\, if anything\, can be seen as a legacy of stri
ke gains today?\n\nFilm Running Time: Approx. 65 minutes\n\nArrival time w
ill be from 6pm with the film starting at 6.30pm and finishing around 8pm\
, it will be followed by a short panel talk with the event finishing at 8.
30pm.\n\nThere are disabled toilets located on the ground floor and the bu
ilding is fully accessible by wheelchair. There is no bar at the venue.\n\
nAbout the Filmmaker\n\nMaria Andrews creates films and photography under
the name\, Manifest Film\, and has made many grassroots films throughout h
er career. To support her filmmaking she delivered takeaways for Take Eat
Easy and then when they went bust\, she switched to Uber. Deliverance was
inspired by her experiences as a rider and filmmaker during the delivery r
ider strikes in 2018.\n\nhttps://manifestafilm.weebly.com/\n\nThis film sc
reening is part of a cultural programme commissioned by local residents to
celebrate the history of Petticoat Lane. It is funded by Historic England
\, and co-ordinated by Toynbee Hall in partnership with Tower Hamlets coun
cil. Thanks to Streets of Growth for supporting the organisation and hosti
