We can only create real change if we collaborate, both within the voluntary & community sector and with statutory partners. How can we work together to influence change, create more equitable partnerships and address structural inequality in Tower Hamlets?

We will hear from some of those working to influence change in Tower Hamlets and have an opportunity to think about how we can strengthen the influence of the voluntary and community sector on decision makers, statutory partners, funders and commissioners.

We will also hear from Tower Hamlets Council about the results of the community consultation and launch of the Mayor’s community grants fund, with a chance to ask questions.

Trustee Nomination

Tower Hamlets has a vibrant and active Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) that plays a key role in building social cohesion and bridging the gap between the least and most deprived communities in the Borough.

In the ten years since we were set up, THCVS has developed a range of casework, networking and representation services that support over 500 VCS groups, organisations and partnerships each year.  The focus of our work over the next few years will be on supporting VCS groups, particularly those groups that work with and represent marginalised and disadvantaged communities, to work in partnership to secure funds, develop their digital capabilities and influence service delivery across the Borough.

We are particularly keen to recruit Trustees that can act as ambassadors for our work and will shape the delivery of our priorities to strengthen the impact and influence of the VCS across Tower Hamlets.

THCVS aims to be a learning organisation and will support new trustees through an induction and trustee buddy scheme, with access to external training where necessary.

The minimum contribution we would expect is that you are able to attend the AGM and seven board and planning meetings a year (currently held alternatively online and in-person) and you will help lead on at least one aspect of either our internal operations or service delivery priorities.
