Step Forward are happy to announce their programme of activities built for fun and wellness this half term including games, cooking, days out, creative printing & kayaking! All activities are provided in a safe and welcoming environment, and lunch/snacks are provided.
Taking place between Monday 24th October and Friday 28th October, the activities are part of the Young People’s Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing services aimed at young people aged up to 25 that live/work or study in Tower Hamlets.
The activities will be in small supportive groups and will suit young people who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, mild mental or emotional health difficulties, or for those who find it hard to access traditional holiday activities.
Our activities are designed to help young people:
· Build connections
· Try new things
· Get creative
· Improve their skills
· Enjoy nature
· Learn and be curious
Young people can self-refer, or Step Forward are happy to take referrals from colleagues with the young person’s consent. They will then contact young people individually to ask some basic questions to ensure they can get the most out of the session and remind them of the dates and timings.
Please contact Step Forward for registration form: info@step-forward.org or for further information please call 020 7739 3082. The young person/parent/carer can also return them by visiting Step Forward.
Guidance for professionals referring young people on to our October 2022 activities programme.
Next steps:
Check if the young person is appropriate for the groups:
The groups are small and supportive with usually no more than 10/12 people in each group. It is important that Step Forward are able to create a comfortable and supportive space, so if you have a young person that you would like to refer to one or more of these sessions, please consider the following to check if they are suitable:
- The young person is able to support their peers and keep the space an inclusive and warm environment for all.
- They are able to listen to others’ opinions non-judgementally and to challenge others’ views respectfully.
- They are able to keep themselves safe.
Give Step Forward a ring to make a referral, preferably before Thursday 20th October. If after this date, do still get in contact in case there are spaces available.
Advise the young person and/or parent/carer:
Step Forward will be in contact with them to confirm their place and chat to them about any access needs, dietary requirements etc.
