Patient & Carer Race Equality Framework

NHS England and NHS Improvement has published its first Advancing Mental Health Equalities Strategy, outlining how organisations can improve our understanding of the communities we serve and become more accessible and beneficial to everyone who needs them.

ELFT are proud to be one of four national pilot sites working on the first ever ‘Patient and Carers Race Equality Framework’ (PCREF), to enable organisations to understand what steps are needed to achieve improvements for individuals of diverse
ethnic background.

The first phase of the PCREF is to gather feedback from across all our communities. NHS England has produced a questionnaire that is accessible online.

The aim of the feedback questionnaire is:
– To better understand the challenges and differential treatment experienced by BAME patients, carers, and communities experiences in mental health services which contribute to poor outcomes.
– To hear what BAME patients, carers, communities and NHS staff views are on what staff skills and support are needed to help improve experiences of mental health services.
