Streetlaw Workshop for Staff - Child Contact and Parental Responsibility

Monday 4 July / 10.30am to 12.00pm

Join the Labyrinth Project to explore different legal aspects of child contact and parental responsibility in an interactive workshop. This workshop will cover:

  • What is parental responsibility and how you can gain it
  • Different orders a court can make in relation to a child, including having contact with them, where they can live, and key decisions eg, about their medical treatment
  • Additional support provided to domestic abuse survivors including in private family law cases
  • Eligibility for legal aid

Please note this workshop will not touch on care and child protection proceedings.

Please note the workshop will provide general information about this topic. The facilitators will be able to provide information on sources of support and legal advice but will not be able to address individual cases during this session.

The workshop will be delivered by students from BPP University of Law’s Streetlaw Project. Streetlaw is BPP University Law School’s largest pro bono project which provides public legal education in action, with students delivering interactive presentations in prisons, homeless shelters, schools and community groups.
