Restorative Justice Unpacked

Restorative Justice Unpacked

Tuesday 29 November / 4.00 to 6.00pm

Do you know what Restorative Justice is? Want to find out more?

Why me? are a national charity working hard to ensure that everyone affected by crime has access to Restorative Justice (RJ), a process that allows people harmed by a crime to communicate with the perpetrator, often with the aim of a face to face meeting. For people affected by crime, RJ can be a healing experience which answers questions they still have about the incident, and allows their voice to be heard. For perpetrators, the chance to hear about the damage they have done can be a catalyst for them to change their behaviour. This is in fact demonstrated in a 27% reduction in repeat offending after going through a Restorative Justice process.

Join Why me? on Tuesday the 29th of November, for an RJ unpacked event where we will talk about what Restorative Justice is, clear up any misconceptions, and generate a discussion about how it can transform the Criminal Justice System for the better.

We will also be joined by one of our Why me? ambassadors to speak about their personal experience with Restorative Justice and how they benefited from it. Hearing from someone who has dealt with a traumatic experience through RJ is a really unique opportunity and we hope it gives you the chance to fully understand how and why the process works.

If you wish to pay for this event via invoice, please get in touch directly via info@why-me.org.
