Project evaluation from the bottom up: Empowering community organisations

Project evaluation from the bottom up: Empowering community organisations

Mon, 20 February 2023, 10:00am – 1:00pm

The Green House | Ethical Property 244-254 Cambridge Heath Road London E2 9DA

Being able to demonstrate value is essential for community and voluntary sector (CVS) organisations. It enables them to meet, and sometimes even question, the monitoring and evaluation requirements of funders and commissioners. A well-considered evaluation helps smaller organisations in particular to articulate and explore project aims, and the resources (financial, material, skills, expertise) they need to be successful. Evaluation reports form the basis of learning how to structure future projects and are also useful when applying for further funding to continue community work.

In the workshop we will bring together representatives from local CVS organisations and Queen Mary to:

  • Share the evaluation challenges they face in their work
  • Develop an understanding of evaluation training needs
  • Plan a series of practical evaluation workshops* that will be delivered between in Spring/Summer 2023
  • Articulate the current evaluation challenges for funder and commissioner stakeholders

Workshop participants will also be invited to attend a further workshop with commissioners and funders in June 2023. In this workshop they will be supported to push for a culture change regarding current evaluation requests and frameworks for CVS.
