This comprehensive interactive workshop delivered over 2 hours empowers participants with the tools to improve skills and knowledge when supporting those bereaved. This workshop is delivered by the Rosedale Bereavement Support service who have experienced bereavement support and suicide intervention trained specialists in the team.
Workshop learning objectives:
- For learners to feel confident supporting those who have been bereaved through Covid 19 or other bereavements
- To be able to use appropriate language
- Understand what may and may not be helpful
- Be able to signpost to other organisations and services who offer specialist support
The training will explore:
- How we best support the bereaved during difficult times
- How being bereaved by Covid 19 can make for a complicated grief
- The importance of active listening
- The importance of empathy over sympathy
- The importance of being able to protect oneself from others grief
- How to signpost people to specific organisations that will be able to support them on a regular basis
- Awareness of ones own limitations’
- Understanding what normal grief is and being able to reassure people that grief is a normal human reaction to a death
