Monday 14 November / 4.00 to 6.00pm / The Octagon At Queen Mary University Of London 327 Mile End Road, E1 4NS
How can we build trust in our communities? Why are minoritised groups not well represented in research? What are the health priorities of young people?
Discover what young adults from the local area think!
Hear from students and graduates from a number of London universities along with sixth form students from Beal High School as they share their insights and priorities for health in our local community.
Two groups of young people who recently took part in placements with Social Action for Health will present their learnings and showcase their work:
- A group of young adults, who took part in a summer work experience placement with Social Action for Health, will discuss their learnings about how we can build trust in our communities and share their perspectives, views, and feelings regarding health and social wellbeing.
- Students from Beal High School sixth form will also share work which they have done on health inequalities and representation in medical, and particularly genetic, research. With support from staff at the Sanger Institute, Social Action for Health, and their teachers, the students have researched these topics and will showcase their work in exhibition-style presentations.
- 16:00-16:20 – Doors open with non-alcoholic refreshments provided
- 16:20-17:00 – Welcome and presentations from young people
