Island Advice are now recruiting volunteers again to train up in ‘advice’ again – they are looking for 2 X volunteers to start beginning of September (one on a Monday and one on a Friday) they would be eligible to attend (zoom) training on Advice issues Tuesday mornings and do NVQ level 3 in advice and guidance.
Island Advice are offering:
- A FREE advice related training for anyone volunteering or working in Tower Hamlets (see details of the course plan below) NOTE this is mostly going to be delivered digitally on Tuesday mornings. If you attend the full course you would obtain the ‘Learning to Advise’ certificate, a nationally recognised, basic advice qualification with units in Advice Skills, Welfare Benefits, Housing, Employment Rights and Debt. This will include 10 mandatory training sessions and a further 20 optional ones over a 12 month period. You HAVE to be volunteering or working as an advisor to be eligible for this
- Level 3 (and 4) NVQs in Advice and Guidance for anyone who is either volunteering or working as an advisor (there is a charge for this but anyone who has been a resident in Tower Hamlets for 3 years may be eligible for a grant).
- They facilitate placements for local community volunteers, and students/graduates
You would be required to volunteer for 12 months, carry out a minimum of one day per week volunteering AND attend ALL the training sessions. If you are interested in volunteering with us and would like more information or to request an application form please email jo@island-advice.org.uk .
