We are looking for people working or volunteering for voluntary and community groups in Tower Hamlets, as well as those under the age of 30, to become trustees of Tower Hamlets CVS.

Would you like to:

    • Stand up for the voluntary and community sector (VCS).
    • Have an influence on how statutory partners like the council and the health system work with the VCS.

Do you:

    • Share our vision of Tower Hamlets as a place where community action thrives?
    • Have experience of working or volunteering for a voluntary and community group?
    • Care about inequality and the power of diverse communities?

We are looking for up to 3 new trustees to join our friendly group of trustees to get involved in the governance of THCVS, helping to set our strategic direction and monitor risk. As a trustee, you will be expected to attend the four board meetings each year and the Annual General Meeting. There will also be opportunities to join working groups on specific issues (e.g. the ‘fundraising working group’) between board meetings. The expected time commitment is around two to four hours per month.

How to apply

Message our CEO, Vicky Scott, on 07377 982 844 or send an email to vicky.scott@thcvs.org.uk to let her know you are interested, by 9.30am on Monday 12 January 2026.

Although trustees have overall responsibility for how we are run, we don’t expect you to know everything at the beginning. All new trustees will have a full induction into trustee responsibilities and the work, governance and finances of THCVS.

About THCVS

Tower Hamlets Council for Voluntary Service (THCVS) is a charity which supports local VCS groups to run their organisations effectively, secure funding to deliver services and to connect and collaborate with each other. This includes over 100 organisations working with children and young people across the borough. We are also an embedded strategic partner in the borough, bridging the space between the voluntary and community sector and statutory and other partners, enabling us to give a voice to voluntary and community groups and advocate on their behalf. Please have a look at our website for more information. Our State of the Sector report gives more information about the voluntary and community sector in Tower Hamlets.
