SUMMARY:Understanding Disordered Eating in Adults
DESCRIPTION:Friday 4 November/ 14:00 - 17:00\n\nThis session provides an in
 troduction to eating disorders and disordered eating in adults\, aiming to
  increase awareness and understanding.\n\nDelivered by a trainer with live
 d experience of eating disorders\, it provides insight into the challenges
  associated with recovery and guidance on how to make sense of disordered 
 eating and it’s function for the individual. The session is aimed broadl
 y at anyone with an interest in learning more about these issues.\n\n**Cou
 rse is open to all health and social care\, and wider public sector workfo
 rce in North East London. Limited numbers apply early. Joining instruction
 s will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date**\n\nThe following topics a
 re included in the session:\n\n• Grounding eating disorders in fact: add
 ressing myths and misconceptions\n\n• The spectrum of eating behavior an
 d eating disorder diagnoses.\n\n• Understanding the function of an eatin
 g disorder\n\n• Weight stigma and its impact\n\n• Early intervention a
 nd barriers to accessing support\n\n• Person-centered care and support: 
 what you can do to help\n\nTrainer bio – Katharine Lazenby\n\nKatharine 
 Lazenby is mental health expert by experience\, drawing on her lived exper
 ience of eating disorders\, psychiatric treatment and hospitalization. She
  is currently a Project Manager at East London NHS Foundation Trust but ha
 s extensive experience as a mental health trainer within the public sector
 \, educator and public speaker. As a visiting scholar at London Southbank 
 University\, she lectures on the lived experience of eating disorders and 
 psychologically informed environments. She sits on the board of directors 
 for the Design in Mental Health Network and has spoken at a number of nati
 onal conferences about her lived experience of mental health care and reco
 very. She is passionate about the power and importance of centering lived
