SUMMARY:Understanding Disordered Eating in Adults
DESCRIPTION:Monday 17 October  / 14:00 - 17:00\n\nFriday 4 November/ 14:00
  - 17:00\n\nThis session provides an introduction to eating disorders and 
 disordered eating in adults\, aiming to increase awareness and understandi
 ng.\n\nDelivered by a trainer with lived experience of eating disorders\, 
 it provides insight into the challenges associated with recovery and guida
 nce on how to make sense of disordered eating and it’s function for the 
 individual. The session is aimed broadly at anyone with an interest in lea
 rning more about these issues.\n\n**Course is open to all health and socia
 l care\, and wider public sector workforce in North East London. Limited n
 umbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to de
 livery date**\n\nThe following topics are included in the session:\n\n• 
 Grounding eating disorders in fact: addressing myths and misconceptions\n\
 n• The spectrum of eating behavior and eating disorder diagnoses.\n\n•
  Understanding the function of an eating disorder\n\n• Weight stigma and
  its impact\n\n• Early intervention and barriers to accessing support\n\
 n• Person-centered care and support: what you can do to help\n\nTrainer 
 bio – Katharine Lazenby\n\nKatharine Lazenby is mental health expert by 
 experience\, drawing on her lived experience of eating disorders\, psychia
 tric treatment and hospitalization. She is currently a Project Manager at 
 East London NHS Foundation Trust but has extensive experience as a mental 
 health trainer within the public sector\, educator and public speaker. As 
 a visiting scholar at London Southbank University\, she lectures on the li
 ved experience of eating disorders and psychologically informed environmen
 ts. She sits on the board of directors for the Design in Mental Health Net
 work and has spoken at a number of national conferences about her lived ex
 perience of mental health care and recovery. She is passionate about the p
 ower and importance of centering lived experience in mental health educati
