SUMMARY:Practical Ways to Enhance Your Board’s Effectiveness

 vent in collaboration with East London Business Alliance.\n\nThere has bee
 n much focus on challenges in the charity sector in recent years highlight
 ing the need for charity boards to be active in checking the effectiveness
  of their governance. In light of the challenges and the disruption caused
  from Covid-19 and cos of living\, strong leadership and effective governa
 nce are more important now than ever before.\n\nUsing the Charity Governan
 ce Code for Smaller Charities\, this roundtable for trustees and members o
 f senior management will look at practical steps charity boards can take t
 o enhance their effectiveness and thereby the positive impact they are abl
 e to create for their beneficiaries.\n\nThe roundtable will consider the s
 even principles of the code:\n\n1. Organisational purpose\n\n2. Leadership
 \n\n3. Integrity\n\n4. Decision-making\, risk and control\n\n5. Board effe
 ctiveness\n\n6. Diversity\n\n7. Openness and accountability\n\nIn consider
 ing how best to apply the principles\, the roundtable will focus on key ou
 tcomes and recommended practice\, as covered in the code. There will also 
 be discussion of frequently experienced challenges and how to develop an a
 ction plan for your board and identifying the changes that will make the g
 reatest contribution to enhanced board effectiveness.\n\nAnthony Carey\, a
  partner at Mazars and Head of Board Practice\, as well as a charity trust
 ee\, will chair the roundtable and discuss the principles outlined above w
 ith particular reference to board effectiveness\n\nThe event is very much 
 intended to be an interactive roundtable providing opportunities for parti
 cipants to share their experiences and thoughts both on challenges encount
 ered and examples of good practice.\n\nPlaces will be allocated on a first
