DESCRIPTION:Online Training Sessions in Deaf and Disability Awareness for f
 ront line health workers and professionals\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe invite fr
 ontline health professionals and workers to attend a series of on-line tra
 ining sessions to improve Disability &amp\; Deaf awareness your place of w
 ork.\n\nWho is this training for? Healthcare professionals and frontline 
 staff\, including Clinicians\, GPs\, Practice Managers\, Receptionists\, A
 dministrative and Support staff\n\nWhen and where will these training be h
 eld? The complete course offers 6 x 1 hour sessions on-line via Zoom sess
 ions clustered around Thursday lunchtimes during March and April 2023. at 
 11.00-12.00\, 12.30-13.30 and 14.00- 15.00\n\nWhat is the training about ?
  The course consists of two modules. Each module addresses a common req
 uirement under the Equalities Act 2010:\n\n 	Module 1 content covers Reaso
 nable Adjustments for Access and has three different sessions : Physical D
 isabilities. Deaf and Hearing Impairment\, Learning Disabilities (these im
 pairment based sessions are repeated 3 times at 11.00\, 12.30 and 14.00)\n
 \n\n 	Module 2 content deals with Accessible Communication and continues r
 easonable adjustment and has three different sessions: Visual Impairment\,
  Deaf and Hearing impairment and Learning Disabilities (these impairment b
 ased sessions are repeated 3 times at 11.00\, 12.30 and 14.00)\n\nThe ses
 sions under each module addresses the challenges and opportunities for sp
 ecific impairment groups when accessing health settings. What is reasonabl
 y required to redress disadvantage and potential discrimination?\nModule 1

 The experience of disabled people accessing health services and informatio
 n shows that the Equality Act 2010 has not been complied with\, and the Ac
 cessible Information Standard has not been enforced. For further informati

 ver the past 12 months\, local disabled residents in Tower Hamlets have be
 en creating training modules for frontline staff and health professionals.
  The modules are aimed at building awareness and understanding of how to b
 etter support disabled patients and create an equal health service for all
 .\n\nLearning Outcomes - By the end of the training\, you will better und
 erstand and practice\n\n 	Social Model of Disability\n 	Reasonable Adjustm
 ent\n 	Accessible Communication\n 	To help you create a more accessible en
 vironment in your practice\n 	The importance of perceiving disabled people
  as individuals\n\nWhy is this training different?\n\n 	Developed and deli
 vered by people with lived experience of disabilities through our disabili
 ty-led partner organisations.\n 	Covers specific impairments: Deaf and hea
 ring impairment\, visual\, physical and mobility impairments and learning 
 difficulties.\n 	Looks at the patients journey from making an appointment 
 to leaving the consulting room using a series of scenarios\n 	It is intera
 ctive\n 	Based on research undertaken in 2021 – 22 with insight from ove
 r 450 disabled peoples' experience of access\n 	Accompanied by a link to d
 ownload our coproduced Best Practice Guide Best Practice Guide :Accessibl
 e Health 2022 .\n\nHow will the training be delivered? The main part of 
 the session will be reviewing these lived experiences\, through a series o
 f pre-recorded videos of the lived experience scenarios and barriers.\n\nW
 ho is delivering the training? Real partners\, deaf PLUS\, ICM Foundation
  CIC are disability-led voluntary organizations working in Tower Hamlets. 
 This training course is the result of their work with residents with lived
  experience of a range of impairments. They have produced this training co
 urse and a Best Practice Guide to accompany it from their findings and rec
