SUMMARY:Marking the Pandemic – Tower Hamlets Remembers
DESCRIPTION:Tower Hamlets Council are encouraging residents\, local organis
 ations and faith groups to take part in ‘Marking the Pandemic’ in the 
 week commencing Sunday 17 October. This will be a time to commemorate thos
 e that have lost their lives during to pandemic but also to reflect upon t
 he outstanding work done by frontline workers\, community groups and volun
 teers.\n\nWe could never have foreseen that so many people would lose love
 d ones\, suffer ill health\, or face social isolation and financial worrie
 s.  Marking the Pandemic will be a way for the borough to come together t
 o acknowledge the huge challenges that we all have faced.\n\nOn Monday 18
 th a formal civic event will be held with representatives of the key front
 line workers and volunteers and the Council is planning a number of tree-p
 lanting ceremonies in parks across the borough on that day and later in th
 e week (more details to follow). Further information will be posted on the

 \n\nOther Tower Hamlets organisations are being asked to contribute events
  through the week and THIFF is co-ordinating the faith strand. We invite a
 ll faith groups to mark the pandemic by doing the following:\n\nTo incorpo
 rate a reflection of the pandemic into your usual service\, during the la
 st week of October\, or to hold a separate ‘event’ – ideas could in
 clude:\n\n 	Planting a tree\n 	Recording a message\n 	Creating some art\, 
 for example in children’s groups.\n\nTHIFF ask you to do some (or all!) 
 of the following:\n\n 	Take photographs of your service/event\n 	Record a 
 short video at your service/event\n 	Ask for reflections from your worship
 pers\n 	Share your version of marking the pandemic on social media using t
 he hashtag #thremembers\n\nWe want to highlight the response of faith gro
 ups by sharing your images and thoughts on this website and on social medi
 a\, to show that faith groups are taking part in this reflective occasion.
