SUMMARY:Hidden addictions: the problem with gambling
DESCRIPTION:Hidden addictions: the problem with gambling\n\nTuesday 26 Apri
 l\, 12.30 – 1.30pm\n\nAbout the event: The Advocacy Project’s April le
cture focuses on the health effects of gambling\, and how it affects our w
ider communities.\n\nWith betting shops on every corner and adverts consta
ntly on TV\, gambling often seems to be a normalised part of our culture.
In reality\, it is a highly addictive behaviour that can cause real harm -
not only for individuals\, but for their families and their wider communi
ties.\n\nAside from the financial impact\, there are huge implications for
health and wellbeing\, with addictive gambling widening existing health i
nequalities.\n\nThese issues will be brought under the spotlight in our up
coming talk from Professor Henrietta Bowden-Jones OBE\, a medical doctor a
nd neuroscience researcher who specialises in the field of addiction. The
discussion will be chaired by Cllr Ketan Sheth\, chair of Brent's Communit
y &amp\; Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee. Ketan will be joined by pupils at N
 ewman Catholic College\, Harlesden.\n\nPlease join us at 12.20pm for a 12.
30pm start. You'll receive Zoom details when you book.\n\nCLICK HERE TO BO
