DESCRIPTION:Training: Volunteers and the Law\nWednesday 19th October 2022\,
  10.30am to 1pm\nA free session on Zoom\n\nDo you want to know more about 
 the legal requirements and issues for organisations that involve volunteer
 s?\n\nThis practical Zoom session will provide an introduction to the key 
 areas of law that affect volunteers and Volunteer Involving Organisations.
  It will cover health and safety\, risk assessment\, insurance\, safeguard
 ing\, criminal record checks and data protection.  It will explore issues
  of employment law\, such as the difference between contracts and voluntee
 r agreements\, guidance on expenses\, the Minimum Wage and volunteering wh
 ile on welfare benefits. We will also consider issues around engaging volu
 nteers from overseas\, including refugees and asylum seekers.  This sessi
 on will help you to identify minimum legal requirements and good practice 
 for your organisation.\nVenue: Zoom.  If you are allocated a place\, you
  will be sent a Zoom link to access the training.  Please ensure you hav
 e a stable internet connection and have downloaded the latest version of Z
 oom (https://zoom.us/download).\n\nPriority will be given to voluntary sec
 tor organisations with a base/office in Tower Hamlets\, or that have servi
 ces aimed at Tower Hamlets residents.\n\nCOST:\nOur training programme is 
 kindly subsidised by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH).  This se
 ssion is provided free of charge to voluntary sector and public sector org
 anisations  However\, there is a non-attendance charge of £50 and this c
 harge will be invoiced to your organisation if you do not attend without g
 iving 48 hours’ notice. There is no charge incurred if bookings are canc
 elled at least 48 hours prior to the start of the course.\n\nPlease ensure
