DESCRIPTION:Banglaverse Film Festival is part of Bangladesh@50\, a season
  of events throughout 2021 which mark 50 years since the independence of B
 angladesh. Tower Hamlets is home to a large and vibrant Bengali community 
 for whom the declaration of independence on 26 March 1971 was a pivotal mo
 ment.\n\nTower Hamlets Council is delighted to be curating a film festival
  to highlight the key events of 1971\, when Bangladesh gained its independ
 ence and the War of Liberation took place.  Films include the award-winni
 ng documentary Rising Silence (2019)\, the poignant documentary Muktir Gaa
 n (1995) and the action film Shongram (2019).\n\nScreenings will take plac
 e at the Brady Arts Centre\, Genesis Cinema and Rich Mix. They will be acc
 ompanied by music and spoken word events to help commemorate this annivers
 ary. The past is not always easy to talk about and Banglaverse Film Festi
 val provides a great opportunity to unite the Bangladeshi and wider commu
 nities through a sense of shared history and help create or continue conve
