SUMMARY:A Mental Health Summit for People in North East London
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 21 September / 10.00am to 3.00pm &amp\; Friday 23 Se
ptember / 12.00pm to 3.00pm\n\nHow can we work together across north east
London to change things and improve our mental health?\n\nAlthough part of
the day will be about reflecting on what has come before\, the main focus
will be to work together to create a vision of what a mental health care
system shaped and led by people with lived experience could look and feel
like.\n\nThe NEL Mental Health Summit will be an opportunity to share your
experiences of mental health services with others\, to describe what ment
al health means to you and to ensure that learning is made from where thin
gs could have been done better.\n\nAbove all\, we want you to take a leadi
ng role in making sure that real\, lasting improvements are put into actio
n.\n\nWhether you have accessed mental health care through NHS services\,
social care or voluntary\, faith or charity organisations\, we welcome you
to attend!\n\nThe future of mental health care will be about ensuring tha
t treatment isn't about the health professional's care plan\, but is far m
ore radical - it will take into account all the factors that make for a go
od and improving quality of life.\n\nThis includes thinking about how to t
ake account of all the issues that affect people's mental health - issues
like housing\, finance\, our physical surroundings as well as what it mean
s to be a valued member of a community.\n\nWe know that experts with lived
experience of health services are best placed to know the issues that nee
d to be addressed and what changes are crying out for action. And above al
l\, they have the determination and expertise to lead the changes they wan
t to see.\n\nThe power of patient leadership in envisioning\, planning and
managing a transformed mental health service is the future\, and we reall
y want you to be a part of that.\n\nBook here for the in-person summit t
aking place at Leyton Orient FC Stadium on 21 September\, 10.00 am - 3.00
