SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n21 February \n\n7\, 21 March \n\n4\, 18 April \n\n2\, 16\,
 30 May \n\n13\, 27 June\n\n 11\, 25 July \n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to 8.0
0pm\n\n\n\nYou are invited to take part in an art project about mental hea
lth. In fortnightly sessions at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow\, starting on th
e 21st of February\, you will work with artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’\,
Cecilia Wee and an inspiring group of activists. Together\, you will begin
to imagine what a London-wide programme of art for mental health could be
.\n\nYou need zero experience in making art. There is zero pressure to do
anything you don’t want to do. All you need is a willingness to listen t
o and support each other. And you will be paid for your time.\n\nAbout the
project\n\nTogether\, we will explore the question: “How can young peop
le with mental health struggles become leaders in art-making and mental he
alth change (without all the stress)?” \n\nWe will do this by spending t
ime together to feel safe\, letting our radical imagination flourish\, and
having big dreams about how artists and art spaces could better support y
ou. It will also be silly and irreverent. We aim to bring a group of young
people together and support them to change what isn’t working.\n\nAt th
e end of this process\, we will share what you have imagined\, what you ha
ve made\, and the ways you have worked together at Whitechapel Gallery. Wh
at will this look like? We will figure this out together.\n\nKey Informati
on\n\n 2.8 Million Minds is open to young people who have experienced str
uggles with their mental health\, and young carers.\n This project is for
people aged 16-25 who live in Tower Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n You
will be paid the London Living Wage (£12p/h) for your time. We will also
cover costs relating to travel on public transport.\n The sessions will
take place fortnightly from 6:30-8 PM\, starting on Tuesday 21st of Februa
ry\, at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow (address below). You do not need to atte
nd all of the sessions.\n\nIf you’d like to take part\, to hear more\, o
r know someone who might be interested\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@chi
 senhale.org.uk or on 07557384717 (between 10-6\, Mon-Fri).\n\n\n\nHang on.

on Minds (so-called because there are 2.8 million young people in London)\
, a programme run by some artists\, disabled people\, art spaces and some
folks from the Mayor of London’s culture team.\n\nIt began in 2022\, and
