SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n13\, 27 June\n\n 11\, 25 July \n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to
8.00pm\n\n\n\nYou are invited to take part in an art project about mental
health. In fortnightly sessions at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow\, starting on
the 21st of February\, you will work with artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’
\, Cecilia Wee and an inspiring group of activists. Together\, you will be
gin to imagine what a London-wide programme of art for mental health could
be.\n\nYou need zero experience in making art. There is zero pressure to
do anything you don’t want to do. All you need is a willingness to liste
n to and support each other. And you will be paid for your time.\n\nAbout
the project\n\nTogether\, we will explore the question: “How can young p
eople with mental health struggles become leaders in art-making and mental
health change (without all the stress)?” \n\nWe will do this by spendin
g time together to feel safe\, letting our radical imagination flourish\,
and having big dreams about how artists and art spaces could better suppor
t you. It will also be silly and irreverent. We aim to bring a group of yo
ung people together and support them to change what isn’t working.\n\nAt
the end of this process\, we will share what you have imagined\, what you
have made\, and the ways you have worked together at Whitechapel Gallery.
What will this look like? We will figure this out together.\n\nKey Inform
ation\n\n 2.8 Million Minds is open to young people who have experienced
struggles with their mental health\, and young carers.\n This project is
for people aged 16-25 who live in Tower Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n
You will be paid the London Living Wage (£12p/h) for your time. We will a
lso cover costs relating to travel on public transport.\n The sessions wi
ll take place fortnightly from 6:30-8 PM\, starting on Tuesday 21st of Feb
ruary\, at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow (address below). You do not need to a
ttend all of the sessions.\n\nIf you’d like to take part\, to hear more\
, or know someone who might be interested\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@
 chisenhale.org.uk or on 07557384717 (between 10-6\, Mon-Fri).\n\n\n\nHang
on..... what’s 2.8 Million Minds? \n\nThis new project is part of 2.8 Mi
llion Minds (so-called because there are 2.8 million young people in Londo
n)\, a programme run by some artists\, disabled people\, art spaces and so
me folks from the Mayor of London’s culture team.\n\nIt began in 2022\,
and here are some examples of what has happened so far. \n\nAccess\n\nIf y
