SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n18 April \n\n2\, 16\, 30 May \n\n13\, 27 June\n\n 11\, 25 Ju
ly \n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to 8.00pm\n\n\n\nYou are invited to take par
t in an art project about mental health. In fortnightly sessions at Chisen
hale Gallery in Bow\, starting on the 21st of February\, you will work wit
h artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’\, Cecilia Wee and an inspiring group of
activists. Together\, you will begin to imagine what a London-wide program
me of art for mental health could be.\n\nYou need zero experience in makin
g art. There is zero pressure to do anything you don’t want to do. All y
ou need is a willingness to listen to and support each other. And you will
be paid for your time.\n\nAbout the project\n\nTogether\, we will explore
the question: “How can young people with mental health struggles become
leaders in art-making and mental health change (without all the stress)?
” \n\nWe will do this by spending time together to feel safe\, letting o
ur radical imagination flourish\, and having big dreams about how artists
and art spaces could better support you. It will also be silly and irrever
ent. We aim to bring a group of young people together and support them to
change what isn’t working.\n\nAt the end of this process\, we will share
what you have imagined\, what you have made\, and the ways you have worke
d together at Whitechapel Gallery. What will this look like? We will figur
e this out together.\n\nKey Information\n\n 2.8 Million Minds is open to
young people who have experienced struggles with their mental health\, and
young carers.\n This project is for people aged 16-25 who live in Tower
Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n You will be paid the London Living Wage
(£12p/h) for your time. We will also cover costs relating to travel on pu
blic transport.\n The sessions will take place fortnightly from 6:30-8 PM
\, starting on Tuesday 21st of February\, at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow (ad
dress below). You do not need to attend all of the sessions.\n\nIf you’d
like to take part\, to hear more\, or know someone who might be intereste
d\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@chisenhale.org.uk or on 07557384717 (bet
 ween 10-6\, Mon-Fri).\n\n\n\nHang on..... what’s 2.8 Million Minds? \n\n
This new project is part of 2.8 Million Minds (so-called because there are
2.8 million young people in London)\, a programme run by some artists\, d
isabled people\, art spaces and some folks from the Mayor of London’s cu
lture team.\n\nIt began in 2022\, and here are some examples of what has h
appened so far. \n\nAccess\n\nIf you have any access requirements\, please
