SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n4\, 18 April \n\n2\, 16\, 30 May \n\n13\, 27 June\n\n 11\, 2
 5 July \n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to 8.00pm\n\n\n\nYou are invited to take
part in an art project about mental health. In fortnightly sessions at Ch
isenhale Gallery in Bow\, starting on the 21st of February\, you will work
with artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’\, Cecilia Wee and an inspiring group
of activists. Together\, you will begin to imagine what a London-wide pro
gramme of art for mental health could be.\n\nYou need zero experience in m
aking art. There is zero pressure to do anything you don’t want to do. A
ll you need is a willingness to listen to and support each other. And you
will be paid for your time.\n\nAbout the project\n\nTogether\, we will exp
lore the question: “How can young people with mental health struggles be
come leaders in art-making and mental health change (without all the stres
s)?” \n\nWe will do this by spending time together to feel safe\, lettin
g our radical imagination flourish\, and having big dreams about how artis
ts and art spaces could better support you. It will also be silly and irre
verent. We aim to bring a group of young people together and support them
to change what isn’t working.\n\nAt the end of this process\, we will sh
are what you have imagined\, what you have made\, and the ways you have wo
rked together at Whitechapel Gallery. What will this look like? We will fi
gure this out together.\n\nKey Information\n\n 2.8 Million Minds is open
to young people who have experienced struggles with their mental health\,
and young carers.\n This project is for people aged 16-25 who live in Tow
er Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n You will be paid the London Living Wa
ge (£12p/h) for your time. We will also cover costs relating to travel on
public transport.\n The sessions will take place fortnightly from 6:30-8
PM\, starting on Tuesday 21st of February\, at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow
(address below). You do not need to attend all of the sessions.\n\nIf you
’d like to take part\, to hear more\, or know someone who might be inter
ested\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@chisenhale.org.uk or on 07557384717

are 2.8 million young people in London)\, a programme run by some artists
