SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n7\, 21 March \n\n4\, 18 April \n\n2\, 16\, 30 May \n\n13\, 2
 7 June\n\n 11\, 25 July \n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to 8.00pm\n\n\n\nYou ar
e invited to take part in an art project about mental health. In fortnight
ly sessions at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow\, starting on the 21st of Februar
y\, you will work with artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’\, Cecilia Wee and a
n inspiring group of activists. Together\, you will begin to imagine what
a London-wide programme of art for mental health could be.\n\nYou need zer
o experience in making art. There is zero pressure to do anything you don
’t want to do. All you need is a willingness to listen to and support ea
ch other. And you will be paid for your time.\n\nAbout the project\n\nToge
ther\, we will explore the question: “How can young people with mental h
ealth struggles become leaders in art-making and mental health change (wit
hout all the stress)?” \n\nWe will do this by spending time together to
feel safe\, letting our radical imagination flourish\, and having big drea
ms about how artists and art spaces could better support you. It will also
be silly and irreverent. We aim to bring a group of young people together
and support them to change what isn’t working.\n\nAt the end of this pr
ocess\, we will share what you have imagined\, what you have made\, and th
e ways you have worked together at Whitechapel Gallery. What will this loo
k like? We will figure this out together.\n\nKey Information\n\n 2.8 Mill
ion Minds is open to young people who have experienced struggles with thei
r mental health\, and young carers.\n This project is for people aged 16-
25 who live in Tower Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n You will be paid th
e London Living Wage (£12p/h) for your time. We will also cover costs rel
ating to travel on public transport.\n The sessions will take place fortn
ightly from 6:30-8 PM\, starting on Tuesday 21st of February\, at Chisenha
le Gallery in Bow (address below). You do not need to attend all of the se
ssions.\n\nIf you’d like to take part\, to hear more\, or know someone w
ho might be interested\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@chisenhale.org.uk o
