SUMMARY:2.8 Million Minds
DESCRIPTION:CHISENHALE GALLERY and WHITECHAPEL GALLERY invite YOU to take p
art in An art project about mental health.\n\nJoin 2.8 Million Minds!!\n\n
“2.8 Million Minds is about helping young people to create an image of t
hriving on their own terms. This is an invitation to recognise the serious
ness of the situation\, but also the joy of coming together and taking act
ion” - A young artist on 2.8 Million Minds\n\n\n\nThe dates of the works
 hops are: \n\n25 July\n\n1 August\n\nTime: 6.30 to 8.00pm\n\n\n\nYou are i
nvited to take part in an art project about mental health. In fortnightly
sessions at Chisenhale Gallery in Bow\, starting on the 21st of February\,
you will work with artist ‘the vacuum cleaner’\, Cecilia Wee and an i
nspiring group of activists. Together\, you will begin to imagine what a L
ondon-wide programme of art for mental health could be.\n\nYou need zero e
xperience in making art. There is zero pressure to do anything you don’t
want to do. All you need is a willingness to listen to and support each o
ther. And you will be paid for your time.\n\nAbout the project\n\nTogether
\, we will explore the question: “How can young people with mental healt
h struggles become leaders in art-making and mental health change (without
all the stress)?” \n\nWe will do this by spending time together to feel
safe\, letting our radical imagination flourish\, and having big dreams a
bout how artists and art spaces could better support you. It will also be
silly and irreverent. We aim to bring a group of young people together and
support them to change what isn’t working.\n\nAt the end of this proces
s\, we will share what you have imagined\, what you have made\, and the wa
ys you have worked together at Whitechapel Gallery. What will this look li
ke? We will figure this out together.\n\nKey Information\n\n 2.8 Million
Minds is open to young people who have experienced struggles with their me
ntal health\, and young carers.\n This project is for people aged 16-25 w
ho live in Tower Hamlets and surrounding areas.\n You will be paid the Lo
ndon Living Wage (£12p/h) for your time. We will also cover costs relatin
g to travel on public transport.\n The sessions will take place fortnight
ly from 6:30-8 PM\, starting on Tuesday 21st of February\, at Chisenhale G
allery in Bow (address below). You do not need to attend all of the sessio
ns.\n\nIf you’d like to take part\, to hear more\, or know someone who m
ight be interested\, contact Seth at: seth.pimlott@chisenhale.org.uk or on
  07557384717 (between 10-6\, Mon-Fri).\n\n\n\nHang on..... what’s 2.8 Mi
llion Minds? \n\nThis new project is part of 2.8 Million Minds (so-called
because there are 2.8 million young people in London)\, a programme run by
some artists\, disabled people\, art spaces and some folks from the Mayor
of London’s culture team.\n\nIt began in 2022\, and here are some examp
les of what has happened so far. \n\nAccess\n\nIf you have any access requ
irements\, please email them to: seth.pimlott@chisenhale.org.uk Chisenhale
