Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their family and carers. We provide locally based services for people in Tower Hamlets:
Support -Talking point, counseling, support groups, dementia cafés, outreach workers.
Information - Helplines, website, knowledge centre, fact sheets, newsletters.
Education - Training provision, educational and training resources.
Who is it for?
Our services are aimed at people who may be worried about their memory, also people who have dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementias.
We also offer advice and support to the families and carers of people with dementia.
In Tower Hamlets we provide awareness raising services for BME communities including those who speak Sylheti and Bengali.
We run dementia cafés:
The all inclusive café is known locally as the Thursday Coffee Club. This is an informal place for people with dementia and their carers to meet and socialise and gather information. It is held at a community centre in Bow, E3.
We also run a café, delivered in Sylheti; it is known as the Monday Memory Sitting and is held in the London Muslim Centre, next to the East London Mosque.
To use our services
To access our services anyone may self-refer and may contact us by phone or email.
We also take referrals from social workers, GP’s or the Memory Clinic or other health professionals.

If you have concerns about Alzheimer's disease or about any other form of dementia, Alzheimer's Society National Dementia Helpline 0300 222 1122 can provide information, support, guidance and signposting to other appropriate organisations.
The Helpline is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Callers speak to trained Helpline Advisers.
