The main item on the agenda is a short awareness training session on Safeguarding issues for Premises. The Department for Education (DfE) are funding a small Pilot Project in a number of Local Authorities (LAs) to map the growing number of Out of School Settings (OSSS) and offer advice in relation to safeguarding. This is a project which is being run in conjunction with the Tower Hamlets Education Safeguarding Team.
The aim is to identify as many such OoSS in Tower Hamlets as possible in the borough. This will give an idea of how many there are and the different types. This is needed as at the moment we don’t know how many such institutions there are in the borough. This isn’t limited to places that offer additional lessons in subjects like English and Maths but would also include things like uniformed groups (Scouts, Guides etc.) and sports clubs
Also on the agend - what issues do leaders of Premises in Tower Hamlets have around service charges, so that THCVS represent these with the council.
Community Rent Reduction Scheme - has your premises made an application, and what issues has this process surfaced for you?
As ever, the issues coming out of the Premises Forum will then be taken forward to the next Co-operate Board at the end of March.
