The last three months of my interim role have whizzed by super-swiftly and it’s been interesting to get to know local groups and their development and organisational needs. Advice sessions have covered a wide range of topics including setting up new charitable organisations, winding up or scaling down as an organisation, funding strategy advice and reviewing funding application drafts.

One of my main sources for information, as well as the support from my colleagues here, has been the ever wonderful NCVO website https://www.ncvo.org.uk/ which is always worth a browse through and a highly recommended resource.

As well as supporting groups within the Tower Hamlets voluntary sector I’ve been looking at improving how we communicate our One to One Advice Service so that voluntary sector groups know how to access the service, what they can expect from the service and what expectations THCVS has of them. Check out our newly refreshed ‘Step by Step Guide’ page which we’ve initiated in anticipation of an increase in advice enquiries during the transition from MSG to the Local Community Fund Programme.

My main priorities over the next couple of months will be to continue to support groups with advice queries and support them through the new Local Community Fund process as well as supporting our own THCVS PQASSO Working Group, to review and evaluate existing and new processes we are developing, with the end goal of achieving our PQASSO Level 2 Quality Standards renewal.
